Day 20: Splashway and Friends

June 27, 2013

Yesterday was one of those days that will be cornerstone. We went to Splashway Family Waterpark in Sheridan, Texas. Sheridan is the definition of "podunk". It took us 20 minutes to get out near where our friends the Bedo's have their church, then we had to go 50 more minutes from there to get to Sheridan. I  was afraid that it was going to be one slide and a big pool. Cullen enjoyed the mess out of it!

This was the cave slide. Cullen loved it and went down it twice.

Cullen got to meet "Ray" the official mascot of Splashway Waterparks. Cullen ended up giving him a few hugs.

That evening as we got home we got to go to the Bedo's. After Dinner Shannon asked if the boys wanted to go swimming in the Kiddie Pool. Of course Cullen did!

Day 18: Cullens Hair and Sunglasses

June 25, 2013

Addie called an audible on us last night. She really wanted to stay up, partly because she was so clogged up in the nose. We spent the night together, and I mean the middle of the night together watching the rest of The Avengers, and then What to Expect when Your Expecting (not that good.)

Somewhere during that she took my cell phone which was open to my Twitter client (Tweetbot) and she was able to send this tweet off. I don't know how she did it but there was a big series of buttons that she would have to do to get a tweet open, type the words, and then press send. Way to go Addie!

SOmetime that morning when we finally go up, Corrie let me sleep a tad. We got up and went to the YMCA. We missed the chance to go to a class, but made up for it by going to the Weightroom and working out. After the Y we went to go eat at Chick-Fil-A. The memory from that event was the following:

This evening after dinner at Fuzzy's (likely) we went to Target to look for the Thor and Captain America action figures. Because what 3 year old doesn't need a complete set? Cullen fell in love with the masks, although he ultimately gave up the masks in lieu of the Captain America figure.

Which of these is not like the other?

I really need sunglasses. I'm not hip enough for these though.

Day 17: Iron Man and the Pool

June 24, 2013

This morning started out pretty slow with us getting a late start. We were supposed to go to the YMCA but didn't make it because I slept in. I felt pretty bad about that but I was glad that Corrie was a forgiving wife. To make matters worse, I had to leave her pretty soon after I got up because I had to go to my old school to do some a quick teaching session with my former principal (still sounds weird to say). Corrie was gracious and put down Addie and then took Cullen for a swim before she put him down.

\

I love this action shot of him!

When I got back to house it was time for me to get a nap as Corrie hadn't napped yet. I played with Addie for a while and let her play until Cullen got up from his nap. Cullen wanted to watch Iron Man (Surprise, Surprise!) We got ourselves ready and went to a Body Step Class at the YMCA that night.

WE finished off the evening at Menchies getting Fro-Yo. We like there spoons.

Day 16: Church and Swimming

June 23, 2013

Addie woke us up at 5:30. That meant that I had a good 4-5 hours of sound sleep before my darling daughter decided to wake us up. It was hard for me to get up around 9 when we woke up, primarily because we sleep hard. Cullen of course was in our bed by 7:00 AM. It's not easy to get sleep in this house!

We got to church and met the Lloyd's. They are taking over our class in August and look to make it even better than it was. I am excited for the passion that is laid on their hearts and how they will develop us as parents raising little ones.

After church we had lunch with our friends the Adams. They are as close to having a standing Sunday afternoon date. We don't play elitist, we just know they are always game for some food.

After nap time, it was pool time...of course we had to watch a little bit of the avengers. Cullen loves for me to cover his eyes so he doesn't see the scary parts. Apparently tonight they were all scary parts. Haha!

I gave him a hug before I sent him off to bed.

Oh and Pierre says Hi!

Day 15: Dinner and Movie, but not for me!

June 22, 2013

It was a rather simple day today.  We woke up this morning a little later than normal, probably because Addie was carrying over her fever from last night. When I got her up I could tell that she was hotter. When we got the thermometer under her arm and she had nearly a 101.8 temperature. We immediately started the Motrin/Tylenol alternate medicine protocol that we were taught by Dr. Y years ago. We played around the house during breakfast but it wasn't that easy because I wanted to keep Cullen separated from Addie so that Cullen didn't take on a fever, even if Addie only had this fever because she is probably teething. Corrie took Cullen outside where they played in the pool. We had gotten the noodles from Target last night that we bought and took them to the pool. Cullen loved playing pool Joust!
After that we had lunch and then it was time for Nap Time. I encouraged Corrie to take cullen after nap time to the movies to see Monsters University. Corrie decided that she would take Cullen to Star Cinema Grill where you could order a meal and then watch a movie. I had them leave a little earlier then they needed to get there so that they could go get candy. When they left a little before 5:00PM I had Addie and evening to myself.

I tried to clean, but everytime I left poor little girl she cried. At one point you could tell the playing and fever had just worn her out because she pooped out in my arms.

Oh, and Super Moon

Day 14: Resting and Loving

June 21, 2013

Spent the better part of the day in bed. Corrie and I didn't feel like doing too much today but we did get up after nap time and go have dinner at Fuzzys. It wasn't a particular interesting day, but we had a great evening.

After Fuzzy's We went to HEB. It's funny to see our kids grow up. I remember when we only had cullen and he could barely fit in these.

After HEB, we decided that we needed some noodles and went to Target. Noodles turned into Buying a Memory Card which turned into buying Iron Man 2.

Day 13: Picking up the kiddos

June 20, 2013

This morning I woke up around noon because Corrie had a professional development and I did not. I woke up and started cleaning the bedroom because it had come to the point where you couldn't tell if we had carpet anymore. I took the hour or so it took to clean up the room and put the clothes in the laundry basket and then I got ready to go to Cherita's. I had to pay her for keeping Cullen and Addie last week. I left and went to Fairmont Parkway where I met my mom and grandma who had our babies. We had dinner at Panera Bread. Cullen enjoyed getting to eat his apple and barely touched his macaroni and cheese (although he cryed out for it).

When we got home, I put in Iron Man for him to watch while we vegg'd out. He was hilarious as the scary scenes came, he would run and hide behind the couch.

Day 12: Tech Conference and Date

June 19, 2013

This was one of those days that I really looked forward to during the entire year. It was our annual Fort Bend ISD Technology Conference. I'd give you a recap except to say that I won a door prize, was very inspired, and look forward to being more technology sound next year.

However, the highlight of my day was my date with my wife! We started out at our normal sushi place that we like to go to in town when we are by ourselves. We went to Blue Fish II.

After dinner it was movie time. I had wanted to watch the new Superman movie called "Man of Steel" for a while. Corrie wasn't too impressed with it, but I was more impressed with how far CGI has come in the last 3-4 years.

Day 11: Summer with No Kids?

June 18, 2013

Today was a pretty cool day, I finished the second day of my training. I got to see the notecard from the lady that was heading up my training. It was pretty cool to see that I could affect someones life and not realize it.

I had lunch at one of the best little hole in the walls in Stafford, "Best Burger." I took the lunch back and worked on catching up on somet things. After the training was over I went home and waited for Corrie. We were going to go to a movie, but ended up getting ourselves set up for our next few days.

We finished the day watching the NBA Finals where the Heat beat the Spurs in game 6. Corrie sat and watched most of the game with me. I know she hates games that she has to watch on TV, but it meant a lot to me to just have her sit through a game with me.

Day 10: Bye Bye Kids.....

June 17, 2013

I had to go to a professional development this morning. It wasn't looking forward to getting up and going to the PD because I was going to be away from Corrie and the kids. We have really enjoyed getting a chance to hang out as a family this summer.  My training was on Interactive Notebook in science.  I got a chance to hang out with some former teachers from my previous schools.

I met a teacher from one of my former trainings whom I helped out several years ago in hard spot. We were both at this training where we were having her emotions toyed with before we started learning about the theory behind their way of teaching. Well this teacher had shared with her group that she had recently  broken up with her boyfriend from high school and college. I write her an encouragement note because we were encouraged to do this during the three day training.

She told me that she met her eventual husband that day and had kept that card over the last six years.

That evening as I was finished I texted Cherita to ask her if it was still okay to bring the kids tomorrow since both Corrie and I had  trainings on Tuesday together. CHerita told us that she had finally gotten the virus that had gone through the whole group at the daycare. Cherita couldn't keep them so we scrambled to see who could keep them for two days.

I called my mother who I knew was doing summer school and she still said that she would take them. Granny would keep them while she was at summer school and my mom would take them in the afternoon. It was perfect. We met mom at Chilli's in Fairmont Parkway and were able to eat dinner and hand the babies off. We don't get time to ourselves much, but when we do it is very unexpected.

Day 9: Father's Day 2013

June 16, 2013

First off, I'm convinced that Father's Day is pulled off way better by women than Mother's Day is by Dads. Women simply are more sentimental and know how to stretch out the day.

First off, we got to church late. But that's fine. We normally do. When we got there we took a picture of our family but it was done more Photo Booth style.
I don't remember much of the rest of the day, but I imagine there was some pool playing and Iron Man watching.

Day 8: Oh, there is a baseball game going on here?

June 15, 2013

We don't normally get to do things that normal people do. Primarily because we have two kids under the age of 4. However, our Sunday School class has been hell bent and determined to not let this be a contributing factor us being a hermit this summer!

I woke up late this morning (Thank You Corrie) and we hung around the house until we left around 4:45 or so for our first ever Skeeters baseball game. The Skeeters are our local minor league baseball team who are red hot.

I thought that our seats, which included an all inclusive buffet would be enough entertainment for Cullen, but this was definately not the case. Cullen was so busy. Between the Carousel, the PLayground, and Pool...he was a busy little beaver!  Corrie entertained Addie the entire time. My crowning achievement was getting my son ice cream and his first bat/ball. I truly felt like an All-American Dad!

Day 7: Carters and Pictures

June 14, 2013

We went to Carters this morning. Played around for a while, that was fun!

We then came home and swam, after we took our 10 month pictures.

Day 5: Kind of Like The School Year

June 12, 2013

Well today Corrie and I both had all day professional developments. I had the 2nd part to the my professional development with my new staff and Corrie had her 2 required trainings of the day. We were both in different locations and unfortunately didn't get to spend time together at lunch. Cullen spent the day with Mama Rita as well as did Addilynn.

I got a haircut today as well.

We did join the YMCA. I'm excited to go start working hard to lose weight here soon.

I also  went get the extremely expensive cat food from the veterinarian . Yah. Corrie snapped these pictures of baby girl. She absolutely loved this romper that Addie was in, it was cute!

Day 4: Not Summer Just Yet

June 11, 2013

So today was a little different again. I started out my professional development for the summer. Corrie was still feeling under the weather so we took Addie to Cherita's while she kept Cullen. He was the easier of the two to keep.  It was my first day with the new staff at my new school. What was the first thing I found out when I got to the professional development, "We have had a small change, you are moving grade levels." I really had no emotions to the grade change. I'm looking forward to effecting change in the biggest way possible, and this helps in that challenge.

It's a little awkward sometimes coming into a new situation but after about the first hour I really felt at home with the new staff. I am excited to work with these group of individuals and we have a great work ahead of us, but first it is time for summer and a chance to relax!!

It was good that I did get to see Corrie and Cullen for lunch at The Old Hickory Inn. I went with Corrie's old team from Quail Valley Elementary.

After the Professional Development was over we went to Chick Fil A for dinner.

Day 3: Varying degrees of Sick

June 10, 2013

This was not the way that we wanted to start off our summer break. I had grand visions of us finally getting up to the "Y" and joining and then attending a class this afternoon, but alas a stomach bug hit our family. My wife Instagramed this picture. These were here tools of choice. She had the big the worse. I just felt queasy.

Addie was fine. She was a little under the weather, but wasn't that bad off. We kept her in PJ's all day because we weren't going anywhere.
Cullen felt like he had a fever part of the day. Anytime that we'd take his temp he seemed to feel fine so I think anything that he had is now gone.

At the end of the day, most of us have rallied and feel better. Here is hoping that Day 4 of our 2013 summer is better than Day 3.
